iOS 9- Apple’s next major iOS update, coming in fall 2015
iOS 9 is Apple’s newest operating system for iOS devices like the iPhone and the iPad, introduced at the Worldwide Developers Conference on June 8. iOS 9 builds on the content introduced with iOS 7 and iOS 8, bringing subtle design changes, refined features, improved functionality, and performance enhancements.
iOS 9’s biggest focus is on intelligence and proactivity, allowing iOS devices to learn user habits and act on that information, opening up apps before we need them, making recommendations on places we might like, and guiding us through our daily lives to make sure we’re where we need to be at the right time.

This month’s Guest Speaker on Thursday February 19th will be Christian Pickman of Micromat. Christian is the Product Manager for Micromat for many years. Micromat and Christian have been longtime supporters of Apple User Groups and especially the the Chico Apple Users Group. He will give a a presentation of TechTool Pro, Pro ToGo, and Checkmate.
The is most advanced version of the acclaimed Macintosh troubleshooting utility created in its 20-year history. Micromat has redeveloped Techtool Pro 7 to be fully 64-bit compatible, which allows the program to run more efficiently on the latest Macintosh computers. We also added a fantastic new RAM test that can find problems which no other utility can; and we also improved many of the testing, repair and maintenance routines.
Protogo 4 – featuring TechTool Pro 7 – The power of TechTool Pro – made portable
You’ve come to rely on TechTool Pro to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair problems with your Mac. With Protogo, TechTool Pro has another feature: portability.
Hard drive testing and repair – in your pocket
Do you have an old portable hard drive or flash drive lying around? Why not turn it into the ultimate Macintosh diagnostic, repair, and maintenance tool? With TechTool Protogo it’s easy. TechTool Protogo allows you to create a bootable diagnostic device that contains TechTool Pro and all of its most powerful tools as well as any of your own utilities you may wish to install. You can then use this device to boot, check, maintain, and repair Macintosh computers as needed. Simply install Protogo on your Mac, launch Protogo, and use it to set up a diagnostic disk.
Maintain and repair multiple Macs
TechTool Protogo ships with several ‘Profiles’ that allow you to start up, test, and repair multiple Macs.
Bring your entire toolbox
Protogo allows you to add other utilities, including those you’re used to seeing in your Utilities folder, to the devices it builds, giving you many more tools than your typical diagnostic DVD. Whether you have a fleet of Macs to maintain for your business, or simply have your family’s MacBooks to look after, Protogo can give you access to all the tools you need. With your Protogo device, you can start up more Macs more quickly than with a traditional DVD, and have the tools to get more done.
Checkmate – A built-in doctor for your Mac that spots small problems before they can become big problems.
Disk and system utilities, like our flagship product TechTool Pro, are great for repairing disk issues and recovering data after something goes terribly wrong. But what if there was a way to catch these problems sooner? What if there was a product that would continuously monitor all of the important parameters of your system and run regular diagnostic tests to detect small problems before they turn into complete disasters?
Introducing Checkmate, the computer health monitoring software by Micromat. We created Checkmate to be a powerful computer diagnostic product without being an intrusion to your work. The software observes your schedule and performs testing when your computer is idle. It then quietly logs results and stays completely out of your way – unless it finds a serious problem. Then it will alert you to the issue and open the Checkmate dashboard so you not only get a full report of the issue, but also read suggested steps you can take to correct the problem.
